RCA – Rail Crane Arm

RCA – Rail Crane Arm:
A Material Handling Crane for Lifting Heavy, Irregular Loads with Ease and Precision

Not every load comes in a neat, uniform shape that’s easy to handle. Fortunately, our material handling crane doesn’t care about shape. Unlike various clamps or roll manipulators designed to handle standard loads such as boxes, drums, and rolls, our versatile tool – the Rail Crane Arm (RCA) – is built to manage irregular, hard-to-grip objects with ease.
Whether the load has a dedicated lifting point – like a hook or eye – or requires support using lifting straps wrapped around its body, the Rail Crane Arm tool (RCA) gives you the flexibility to lift without compromise. This adaptable lifting tool is ideal for moving everything from large covers, lids, and flat plates to bulky machine parts and industrial filters.
But the Rail Crane Arm is not only versatile in the types of loads it can lift – it’s also remarkably flexible in how it allows the load to be moved afterwards. This is especially useful when precise repositioning is needed.

To begin with, the built-in carriage system allows the load to glide smoothly forward along the length of the crane arm in a safe and controlled manner. Once the desired movement is completed, a simple turn of the knob on the carriage locks the load in place, preventing any further movement.
In addition, the Rail Crane Arm can be paired with a Swing Unit (SU) (see image below), enabling the arm to pivot gently left and right. Similarly to the carriage system, once the desired position is reached, a simple locking mechanism ensures the arm stays securely in place, preventing any further swinging.
Together, these horizontal movement options significantly reduce the need for manual repositioning and physical strain, helping each lift to be completed faster, more safely, and with greater precision.

Customisation and Flexibility: A Perfect Fit for Every Task
The material handling crane offers unparalleled flexibility, effortlessly adapting to a wide range of lifting tasks.
First, the geometry of the crane arm itself can be easily adjusted to meet the specific needs of your operation.
Secondly, at the core of the RCA’s design is modularity – the foundation of all our lifting solutions. This modular approach makes it simple to pair the RCA with a variety of tools, ensuring you get the perfect solution for your material handling needs, no matter how specialised the task.
Shape It, Size It, Tailor It: A Custom Fit Every Time
One of the standout features of the Rail Crane Arm is its exceptional customisability, allowing you to tailor the system to your exact needs.
You can specify the crane arm’s shape and length to optimise it for specific operations or to navigate spatial constraints with ease.
Additionally, the RCA can be configured with the ideal steel alloy for your environement – if for example you need enhanced corrosion resistance we can offer to build it in AISI 316L stainless steel.
No matter the challenge, the RCA is designed to seamlessly integrate into your operation and meet its unique demands.
From Simple to Complex: Just One Solution for Lifting Just About Anything

As mentioned, the RCA is incredibly versatile, capable of handling a wide range of objects – from heavy machinery parts to oddly shaped, difficult-to-grip materials.
Whatever the load, the crane arm can be easily adapted to lift it safely and efficiently.
This exceptional flexibility is not just a performance advantage but also a cost-effective solution, allowing you to rely on a single lifting system for a variety of loads and situations.
Modular Magic: Pairing the Material Handling Crane with Specialised Tools
Thanks to its modular design, our lifters can be easily adjusted to fit specific needs without breaking the bank. Think of it like a Lego® system – by swapping out different components, you can create a solution tailored to your exact requirements.
This approach not only makes customisation quick and easy but also highly cost-efficient. One lifter can be fitted with various tools and attachments, reducing the need for multiple systems and allowing your equipment to adapt to a variety of tasks.
In this way the RCA can be paired with other attachments to optimise its functionality in a specific situation. The most common setup includes adding the standard Swing Unit (SU), which allows the crane arm to swing left and right for enhanced manoeuvrability and precision. But in some situations, a more specialised setup is required.
Take, for example, the picture below, where the Rail Crane Arm is paired with an electric rotation unit and an electric clamp. This combination not only allows the drum to be moved forward along the crane arm as show below, the system also allows the drum to rotate sideways, a task that would be difficult with traditional handling methods.
By combining different attachments, the material handling crane into a highly specialised tool capable of handling even the most challenging lifting tasks.

How Exactly Does the Rail Crane Arm Work?

The Rail Crane Arm is designed to lift loads suspended by a chain, wire, or strap, which is connected to a carriage on the RCA. The dimensions of the crane arm itself can be customised to suit your specific requirements.
The carriage, equipped with bearings, moves smoothly along the rail, allowing for precise load positioning. By turning the knob in one direction, you loosen the carriage for movement, and by turning it in the opposite direction, you tighten the knob to securely lock the carriage in place.
Features
- Carriage with bearings for smooth and easy movement, even under full load.
- Easy locking of carriage by simply turning a handle.
- Easily customizable to customer specifications.
- Rugged construction for industrial use. With its all-stainless steel construction, the RCA is built to last and for use in demanding industrial environments.
- Can be combined with a Swing unit (SU) to allow for lateral adjustment.
